If joint or tendon pain is making life difficult, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections can often make a difference in healing and restoring function. This treatment uses growth factors from the platelet cells of your own blood to stimulate the body’s ability to heal itself. For the procedure, which takes less than an hour, we draw blood and spin it in a centrifuge to extract the platelet-rich portion of the blood, which contains important growth factors, plasma, and red blood cells. Then, I inject concentrated portion into the injured area.
